Pietragallo partner Michael Morse will be speaking at the American Bar Association’s 33rd Annual National Institute on Health Care Fraud on May 3-5, 2023 in Chicago, IL.

Mr. Morse will be speaking on “Enforcement and Private Equity” with fellow speakers Kirk Ogrosky, partner at Goodwin Procter, LLP and Kevin Lownds, Deputy Chief in the Office of Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell, Medicaid Fraud Division. Their panel will focus on health care fraud enforcement actions against private equity organizations.

This two-and-a-half-day event will offer over 13 hours of CLE credit to attendees.

Pietragallo partner Tama Beth Kudman will be presenting at the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers’ (NACDL) Advanced Criminal Law Seminar. This seminar will be held in Aspen, CO from January 22- 25, 2023. Tama’s presentation titled “Winning with Motions in Limine” will take place on January 23 at 8:00 am.

This four-day conference will feature numerous networking and CLE opportunities for the criminal defense bar. Both members and non-members of the NACDL are invited to attend. CLE credit will be available to attendees.

This webinar will further dive into the contents of a recent article that Chalon published in the SCCE’s CEP Magazine entitled “SEC Heightens Compliance Enforcement of Public Companies in 2022”. Specifically, this webinar will feature an overview of the SEC enforcement that took place in 2022 and an outlook on SEC enforcement in 2023.

Help! My Client Is Being Investigated, What Do I Do?

Pietragallo partner Tama Beth Kudman will be a panelist at the Palm Beach County Bar Association’s (PBCBA) panel discussion on Criminal Law Issues for the Civil Practitioner on June 9, 2022 at 12:00pm EST. This panel discussion is being hosted by the PBCBA’s Solo and Small Firm Committee.

Tama will be speaking with Ned Reagan, partner at the Law Office of Edward D. Reagan. Their session is called “Help! My Client Is Being Investigated, What Do I Do?” During their session, they’ll cover the following ethical, legal, and practical considerations:

  • What role does the civil lawyer play regarding advising what to turn over or not?
  • Advising the client to not destroy anything.
  • Whether the client is being served individually or as a corporate officer/custodian of records.
  • What does the civil lawyer say to the FBI or whatever agent is calling/showing up at the house/business?
  • When the client says he/she will destroy evidence prior to being put on notice of the formal investigation.
